4 Alternative Ways to Enhance Your Wellbeing

If your everyday life is marred by sickness, lethargy, poor immunity or lack of energy, you need not rely on prescription medication to enhance your wellbeing. There are a number of proven alternative ways to improve your mental and physical health, four of which are discussed below.

Start loving your body

Often, we are focussed on loving only the external appearance of our body and spend much energy on making ourselves look great. However, truly loving your body involves treating it with respect and being equally concerned about your internal wellbeing.

So how do you love your body? By choosing to feed it nourishing foods that empower and strengthen your body systems; by eliminating negative thoughts that hinder your growth; and by giving up a sedentary lifestyle and adopting a way of living that your body was designed for.

Embrace yoga

The ancient practice of yoga aims at wholesome wellness of the body, mind and spirit. Lizette Pompa from Yogateket explains in the article 30 Health Benefits of Yoga that yoga is a great way to get your lymphatic system moving, which drains toxins from your body and boosts your immunity.

Even if you’re not a big fan of yoga, start with a few simple poses (asanas) and once you start feeling its effects (which you sure will, provided you keep an open mind), move on to the more complex poses. Yoga works for everyone who embraces it wholeheartedly.

Seek new experiences

You will hear a lot of advice on ditching negative company and ousting negative people from your life. But in order to come out of the comfort zone that’s keeping your body, mind and spirit trapped in a cocoon, you need to make deliberate efforts to explore new surroundings and meet new people.

If you’re blessed with good people in your life, treasure them but also be open to new experiences so that you can improve your understanding of the world and of yourself. This will not only break the vicious cycle of limited thinking, it will greatly improve your physical and emotional health. Your aches and pains may just go away once you decide to welcome newness into your day-to-day life.

Give a physical form to debilitating thoughts and emotions

Whether you’re dealing with emotional issues, problems at work or challenges in your personal relationships, everyday stresses can take a toll on your health and leave you feeling sick, fatigued, tired and frustrated.

While serious mental health issues should always be discussed with a certified mental health professional, it will be of great benefit if you make an effort to avoid bottling up your problems and trying to resolve them all alone.

Instead, express your fears and emotions by giving them a physical form. Draw, write, sketch or even embroider emotions and feelings that are keeping you from living your life to the fullest. Create an outlet for toxic thoughts to leave your body, and you’re sure to feel better at all levels.
