How to do Facial at home

A good facial is what you need to bring your tired, dull-looking skin back to life. But visiting parlour every time for facial is not convenient. What if you are able to do it yourself in the comfort of your home? That is what I’m going to tell you in this post. Learn how you can do a full-fledged facial at home.

Things you need:

  • A steamer or a bowl filled with hot water
  • A towel
  • Eye mask / cotton pads dipped in rose water / cucumber slices
  • Your regular toner and moisturiser
  • Comedone remover
  • Over-the-counter facial kit or your regular face wash, scrub, face pack, massage cream

Before starting facial wash your hands properly with warm water and a hand wash to remove any dirt present in your hands. Dirty hands will clog skin pores which will in turn cause pimples.

Step 1: Cleansing

Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser or a face wash. If you are using facial kit, look for the cleanser inside. Apply it on your damp face and rinse with warm water. Pat dry.

Step 2: Scrub

Use the face scrub present in the facial kit or your regular scrub to exfoliate your face. Apply it on your face and massage in brisk circular motion for 2 – 3 minutes or for the time mentioned on your scrub. Use damp cotton pads to remove the scrub or rinse your face with water.

Step 3: Steam

Steam your face for 5 – 10 minutes using a facial steamer or a bowl of hot water. Cover your face with towel while steaming.

Caution: Take care. Don’t burn yourself by spilling the hot water.

Step 4: Extract blackheads/whiteheads

If you have blackheads or whiteheads on your face then this is the time to remove them. Steaming softens the skin and open up the pores making it easier and less painful to extract blackheads and whiteheads. Use a comedone remover or a blackhead strip for it.

Step 5: Massage

Massage your face for 10 – 15 minutes in upward circular motion. Use any massage cream of your choice or the one you got in your facial kit. Remove the cream using cotton pad. You can also use an electronic facial massager for massaging.

Step 6: Face pack

Apply face pack of your choice and keep it for 10 – 15 minutes or for the time mentioned on it. Place cotton pads dipped in rose-water or cucumber slices or an eye mask on your eyes and relax till the face pack dries.
Remove it with a damped cotton pad or wash your face and pat dry.

Step 7: Tone and moisturise

Lastly, apply your regular skin toner or astringent whatever you use followed by your regular moisturiser.

That’s it. Now you are done with your facial. You can wear your make-up after this.

Now you tell me whether you do your facial at home or visit parlour for that? What products do you use for doing facial?
